“No electric devices allowed”: Porsche team take on Ennstal Classic
It’s that time of year again, take off your Rado watch, get your Hunter-case watch out and let’s head to the Ennstal Classic.
Ennstal Classic 2015 will see Porsche compete with twelve vehicles, with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dr Wolfgang Porsche and the double World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl facing each other eye-to-eye and bring world-class reinforcement to the mountainous Styria region.
Facing the challenge this year is driver and actor Patrick Dempsey alongside Porsche board member Bernhard Maier. Also joining the action is three times Le Mans class winner, Richard Lietz and brand ambassador and Germany’s number one tennis player, Angelique Kerber. We will also see the return of last year’s successful driver Lutz Meschke.
Not to be outshined, Porsche’s team will be racing in extraordinary classics that represented the benchmark of development and technology of their day. Several rarities are amongst the vehicles from the Porsche Museum. Dr Wolfgang Porsche takes the wheel of a 356 B Carrera 2 Cabriolet of which only 34 were built. Dempsey and Maier will be driving the 1954 Carrera Panamericana winner straight from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, a Porsche 550 Spyder. Röhrl competes Racecar Trophy at the wheel of the “Grandmother”. In the past, the 718 W-RS Spyder competed in the Targa Florio four times, raced at the 1000km on the Nürburgring three times and crossed the finish line at Le Mans twice.
For a second year Porsche AG are proud main sponsors. In addition to the Porsche Museum, Porsche Driver’s Selection and Porsche Classic will also be present. In the Porsche Event truck, a range of clothing, lifestyle articles and model cars are available from the Porsche Driver’s Selection and the Museum shop.
