Porsche Classics at the Castle 2017
Europe’s largest classic Porsche gathering returns to Hedingham Castle on Sunday 3 September 2017, hosted by Porsche Club GB. The 2017 running of ‘Classics at the Castle’ is a celebration of KG badged Porsches set within the spectacular grounds of Hedingham Castle in Essex. An iconic display of pre-1974 (KG badged Porsches) has sat at the heart of the show for more than 10 years, and it is sure to prove a crowd pleaser once more.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 911S, this year’s event will see the Castle’s driveway feature a static display of 50 examples, set out in chronological order. It promises to be one of the most complete displays of 911S showcasing all the models in the production spectrum, including those built in the Porsche AG period. Several notable vehicles confirmed for attendance include two rare right-hand-drive S models from 1967 – a 2.2-litre ‘S’ and ‘S’ Sport, and the ex-Vic Elford 2.4-litre car.
Each year the event’s esteemed judges award a ‘Star Car of the Day’ based on rarity, originality or its interesting history, together with a ‘Trade Stand Award’ for best presentation and crowd appeal. Furthermore The Porsche Paddock provides designated parking for all modern Porsche models built post-1973, providing a great opportunity to show off your pride and joy.
Alongside large displays of classic and modern Porsche, an abundance of trade stands and food vendors will be on hand, plus there is the opportunity to explore the magnificent Castle and its grounds. You don’t need to be a club member, or even own a Porsche to attend, the event is family friendly and open to all but this year tickets will not be available on the gate – it is a pre-book only affair. Tickets for Porsche Club GB members cost £20 (per car), the non members price is £25 per car with passengers charged an additional fee. Children under 16 years old go free and dogs are welcome.
