Porsche Macan GTS Revealed
Porsche has revealed a new version of its popular Macan SUV at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Macan GTS follows in the footsteps of its GTS namesakes in the current Porsche range of vehicles…
The new Macan GTS sits between the existing Macan S and the Macan Turbo in Porsche’s current model line up, boasting a reengineered chassis offering 360hp with 368lb ft torque from a reworked version of Porsche’s three-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine.
Porsche’s all-wheel drive system is mated to a PDK gearbox in the new GTS, which comes fitted as standard complimented by Porsche Traction Management (PTM), providing flexible power distribution between the car’s front and rear axles. The Macan GTS completes the sprint from zero to 62mph in 5.2 seconds – reducing that to just 5.0 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package designated. The new model’s top speed is around 160mph.
Fine tuning of the PASM-equipped chassis, with a ride height lowered by 15-millimetres, along with 20-inch RS Spyder design alloy wheels (with a matt black paint finish), mean the new model provides a typically sporty Porsche driving experience – audibly heightened by its full sports exhaust system.
The new Macan benefits from typical GTS styling cues too; high gloss and matt black accents have been applied to a special version of the Sport Design bodykit. And, for the first time, the Macan GTS is also available with the option of LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus. Inside things remain in keeping with the new model’s sporty style, standard GTS sport seats with Alcantara centre panels, and additional Alcantara trim, feature throughout the interior.
The new Macan GTS is on sale now, priced at £55,188. GT Porsche will be bringing you the full details of the new car in a forthcoming issue, alongside our initial driving impressions.
