Porsche Reveals New Cayenne Coupé
Porsche has revealed a new four-seater Cayenne Coupé, the sporting derivative of its popular SUV features a sloping rear roofline and is offered in two guises: Cayenne Coupé and Cayenne Turbo Coupé each with turbocharged petrol engines. Both versions of the Cayenne Coupé are on sale in the UK now with prices starting at £62,129, first deliveries are expected from the end of May 2019.
The new Cayenne Coupé shares its underpinnings with the established Cayenne SUV, but it is differentiated by its roof, it has a shallower A-pillar and has been lowered by around 20mm. Unique rear doors and muscular wheel arches make the Coupé wider than its established relation by 18mm. A new style of active Porsche roof spoiler appears, designed to assist the new model’s aerodynamics. There is a fixed spoiler and a new adaptive rear spoiler located underneath the vehicle’s rear window, this extends at speeds above 56mph.
A panoramic fixed glass roof is fitted as standard, but a carbon fibre roof is optional for the Cayenne Coupé, available as part of one of three lightweight packages. These packages also include new lightweight, 22-inch GT Design alloy wheels, Sport Design styling, seat centres in classic checked fabric, and carbon and Alcantara interior trim accents. For the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the package also includes a sports exhaust system. Inside comes a rear bench with two individual seats, rear passengers sit 30mm lower than in the Cayenne, ensuring there is plenty of headroom despite the Coupé’s sloping roofline. However, a traditional rear bench can be specified at no additional cost. Boot capacity is 625-litres. Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, front and rear Park Assist (including reversing camera), and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the Sport Chrono Package.
Two engines are available at launch. The Cayenne Coupé comes with a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engine delivering 340hp and 332lb ft torque. The 0-62mph dash is dispatched in 6.0-seconds flat, that drops to 5.9-seconds with the optional lightweight sports packages. Top speed is 150mph and combined fuel consumption 23.9 mpg. CO2 emissions 215–212g/km. The top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo Coupé features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 550hp and 568lb ft torque. It can accelerate to 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 177mph. Combined fuel consumption is 20.8mpg, combined CO2 emissions range between 261–258g/km.
The new Cayenne Coupé is available to order in the UK and Ireland now with first deliveries expected from the end of May. Priced start at £62,129 for the Cayenne Coupé and rise to £104,729 for the Cayenne Turbo Coupé.
